Spicy Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients Needed:
- Beef mince: You can use lamb mince. I just prefer using beef mince.
- White onion: Medium-sized.
- Bolognese sauce: If you make your own, then you can use a homemade tomato sauce. Or you can just use a store-bought one – I used Dolmio bolognese sauce.
- Spices: Salt, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, curry powder, chili powder.
- Spaghetti: I used wholewheat but you can definitely use normal spaghetti.
- Extra virgin olive oil: Please avoid using any seed oils (such as sunflower oil)
- Butter
How To Make The Best Spicy Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe
- Start by finely chopping your white onion.
- Warm up a deep skillet over medium-low heat. When it’s slightly warm (not too hot), add a combination of olive oil and butter. Once the butter has melted, toss in the chopped onions.
- Allow the onions to cook until they become slightly soft. Then add in the spices one by one. Mix them in. If you find the need, you can drizzle a bit more extra virgin olive oil. Be mindful not to overdo it because the meat will release its own oil once added.
- Let the spices infuse for about 3 minutes, and then introduce your minced meat. Blend it in with the onions and spices, ensuring you break up the meat.
- As the meat is cooking, bring a deep pan filled with hot water to a boil. Once the water starts to bubble, add your spaghetti and a dash of oil to prevent sticking. Cook it following the packet instructions.
- Once the meat has fully cooked, add in your bolognese sauce. You might want to use one jar and a bit of another if you prefer a saucier consistency. Add the spices again and mix thoroughly. Allow it to simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Now, you have a choice – either combine your drained spaghetti with the sauce if you prefer it mixed, or serve the spaghetti on a plate and add the sauce on top.
- Enjoy your Spicy Spaghetti Bolognese.

How To Store Your Spicy Spaghetti Sauce
Storing your Spicy Spaghetti Bolognese properly is important to ensure it remains fresh and delicious. Here’s how:
- Refrigeration: If you have leftover Spicy Spaghetti Bolognese that you’d like to store, allow it to cool to room temperature first. Then, transfer it to an airtight container. You can store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: To store for a longer period, consider freezing your spicy spaghetti sauce. Follow these steps:
- First, ensure the dish has cooled down.
- Portion the bolognese sauce into freezer-safe containers or zip-top bags. It’s better to portion it in meal-sized servings.
- When you’re ready to enjoy your spaghetti bolognese, thaw it in the fridge overnight, and then reheat it on the stovetop. Then cook your spaghetti and serve!
