Indulge guilt-free with this homemade beef burger fakeaway – a healthy twist on a classic favourite.
Are you tired of constantly giving in to those burger and chip cravings, sabotaging your efforts to eat healthy? I’ve been there too, and I’ve got the perfect solution to help you kick the takeout habit while still indulging your taste buds the healthy way!
I swear by the 80/20 rule, which has allowed me to maintain a balanced, consistent, and satisfying approach to healthy eating without feeling like I’m depriving myself. And one of my favorite ways to satisfy those lingering fatty food temptations is by making homemade fakeaways.
Back when I started my health journey, takeout was a weekly occurrence in our household. While there’s nothing wrong with that, I craved more control over what my family and I were eating. I wanted to reserve takeout for those super busy days when cooking seemed impossible or days when we were out. That’s when I discovered the magic of fakeaway recipes – they helped us curb our takeout addiction, stay on the healthy track, save money, and, best of all, never feel like we were restricting ourselves.
I am so excited to share the best homemade beef burger recipe with a mouthwatering beef burger seasoning that will have you wanting more. But that’s not all – I’ll also show you how to make the most irresistible homemade oven-baked chips that will make you say goodbye to fried chips for good, all while staying on the path to a healthier lifestyle.
This post is all about the ultimate homemade beef burger fakeaway recipe.

- Nutmeg
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Egg yolk
- Chilli powder
- Ground coriander
Fillings:

- Onion (white or red)
- Cheese (I used cheddar mild cheese)
Sauce:
- Light mayo
- Sriracha sauce
- Sea salt
- Garlic granules
- Black pepper
- Paprika
How To Make The Best Homemade Beef Burger
Beef burger:
- Place the beef in a large bowl and add all the spices, coriander, and egg yolk to the beef and mix it with your hands until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Roll into 4 balls and flatten them on top of a tray with non-stick baking paper – don’t worry if the burgers look big as they shrink when you cook them.
- Set them aside for a while until you finish making the fillings
Fillings:
- Wash and chop your lettuce and set aside.
- Then finely slice your onions and cook in a pan with some olive oil and add salt and pepper for some taste. Cook until you are satisfied – I personally prefer it when my onions are completely soft and cooked so well they turn brown.
- Set them aside, ready to add to your homemade beef burger
Homemade Sauce:
- Add the mayonnaise and sriracha sauce in a bowl, then add the spices, and mix well. The mixture will turn pink. The sauce is going to be enough for your burgers and to dip your chips in.
Finally, when everything has been prepped it is then time to start cooking your beef burgers. And here is how you cook it:
- In a pan, add some dairy-free plant-based butter (healthier than normal butter) and cook your homemade beef burgers.
- Cook the beef until you are satisfied. Every 3 minutes I would flip them until they were cooked to perfection. I personally prefer my beef to be fully cooked.
- Once they have been cooked, remove from the pan and add your grated cheese on top for it to melt.
- Empty out the pan from the butter and place it back on the stove. Cut your burger buns in half and place them on top of the pan (the flat side, not the top of the bun) to make it nice and crispy.
- You will then spread your sauce on the bun, and add your shredded lettuce, the homemade beef burger, and onions. And it is ready for you to enjoy!
Homemade Oven-Baked Chips
I always make these delicious homemade oven-baked chips as a side to enjoy with my homemade beef burger. They are the best homemade chips you will ever have and you will for sure ditch the fried chips for this healthier alternative.
Ingredients And Instructions:
- Peel your large potatoes (you can definitely keep the peel on but I do prefer them without) and wash them well. Cut in half and then slice that half in half again so when you cut into chip size it doesn’t come out too big and fat. Then cut long ways into chip sizes.
- DO NOT skip this step! – Once you have cut your potatoes, pat them dry with a tissue. This is the hack to get your homemade baked chips nice and crispy.
- Add them to a bowl and add in your spices: sea salt, pepper, paprika, garlic granules, curry powder, and olive oil. Then mix well.
- Place in a tray with non-stick baking paper and place in the oven to cook.
- Once cooked, serve with your homemade beef burger and add a teaspoon of the burger sauce to dip your chips in (This combo is SO GOOD YOU GUYS!!)
Can Homemade Burgers Be Healthy
Are homemade burgers a healthy choice? Absolutely! Whether you prefer beef, chicken, or fish, homemade burgers offer a healthier alternative to satisfy your cravings.
When you make burgers at home, you have complete control over the ingredients, reducing salt and eliminating unnecessary additives. This leads to a healthier burger.
Moreover, you have cooking options. Many fast-food burgers are fried in excessive oil, but at home, you can opt for minimal oil or even bake them in the oven. The choice is yours!
Do You Put Egg Yolk In Ground Beef Burger?
Yes, beef burgers benefit from the addition of egg yolk. It helps bind the meat, enhances flavor, and keeps the patty tender. Without egg yolk, the patty tends to become dry after cooking.
