If you love muffins as much as I do, you will for sure love these healthier, moist date muffins that you can enjoy guilt-free!
My love for dates continues, and the collection of date recipes on my blog is slowly (but very happily) growing. There’s nothing I enjoy more than using dates in my snacks, and these moist date muffins have officially taken the top spot as one of my all-time favourites.
These healthy date muffins are genuinely incredible – so soft they literally melt in your mouth. I enjoyed one with a cup of peppermint tea, and honestly, it didn’t even feel like I was eating something “healthy.”
Made with wholesome ingredients and naturally sweetened, they taste just like something you’d pick up from a local bakery. If you’re looking for a no sugar date muffins recipe that still feels indulgent, this one is it.
They’re not overly sweet, which I personally love, but if you prefer a little extra sweetness, you can easily add around 1 teaspoon of maple syrup. I also decided to add a small amount of smooth almond butter to this date muffins recipe to balance the natural sweetness from the dates and make the muffins extra soft and moist – without making them heavy.
These muffins are perfect if you love muffins or cakes and want something nourishing you can fully enjoy without any guilt. Whether you keep them plain or turn them into chocolate date muffins, I just had to share this recipe with you.

Ingredients Needed for These Healthy Date Muffins
- Medjool dates
- Warm full-fat milk
- Smooth almond butter (I recommend almond butter over peanut butter to keep the flavour subtle and avoid an overpowering nutty taste).
- 2 eggs
- Self-raising flour
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
How To Make This No Sugar Date Muffin Recipe
- Remove the pits from the Medjool dates, place them in a bowl, then pour warm milk over them and leave to soak for 20 minutes.

- After 20 minutes, add the soaked dates and milk to a blender along with the smooth almond butter and blend until completely smooth.

- Pour the mixture into a large bowl, add the remaining ingredients, and mix until well combined.

- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Lightly grease a muffin tray with butter, divide the batter evenly between the moulds, and sprinkle chocolate chips on top if you want extra chocolate.

- Bake for around 12 minutes, checking after 10 minutes and returning to the oven for an extra 1–2 minutes if needed. Cooking them any longer will completely dry them out!
