Healthy brownie date balls made with simple ingredients, no protein powder, and no baking. A fudgy, chocolatey snack perfect for meal prep.
I’ve been seeing brownie date balls all over social media lately, originally inspired by Elle Gibson, and after watching so many people turn dates into brownies, I knew I had to try them for myself. As a huge date lover, I decided to make these brownie date balls instead of a full date brownie because I always prefer to reach for a quick, grab-and-go snack.
This brownie date balls recipe uses far fewer ingredients than the original version and is made without protein powder, making it simple, approachable, and easy to recreate at home. These healthy brownie date balls come together in minutes and make the perfect meal-prep snack for the week. I love enjoying one in the evening with a cup of peppermint tea when a sweet craving hits.
My family absolutely loved these chocolate brownie date balls, and because we were all obsessed (myself included), I had to share them with you. I honestly think you’ll love these date brownie balls just as much as we do.

No Protein Powder Brownie Date Balls
Ingredients Needed To Make These Healthy Brownie Date Balls
- Medjool dates, soaked in warm water for fudgy brownie bites
- Smooth almond butter (or nut butter of choice)
- Cocoa powder
- Almond flour
- Vanilla extract
- Dark chocolate, for coating
- Crushed nuts, for topping (optional)
How To Make These Delicious Date Brownie Balls
- Remove the pits from the Medjool dates and soak them in warm water for 10 minutes. This softens the dates, makes blending easier, and gives the brownie date balls a super fudgy texture.

- Add all the ingredients (except the dark chocolate and crushed nuts) to a food processor and blend until a thick, dough-like mixture forms. When pressed between your fingers, it should hold together like dough.

- Roll the mixture into balls — you should get around 10–12 brownie date balls.
- Place the balls in the fridge for 5–10 minutes to firm up slightly.
- While they chill, melt the dark chocolate and finely chop the nuts if using. The nuts add a lovely crunch and make the brownie bites look extra pretty.

- Line a non-stick baking sheet on a plate, then dip each ball into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Use two forks to gently roll and lift the balls before placing them onto the lined plate.
- Sprinkle the crushed nuts on top, then return the balls to the fridge for 10–20 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully set.
- Enjoy!
- Store the brownie date balls in the fridge so the chocolate stays firm — they’re honestly so good straight from the fridge.
