Indulge guilt-free with this mouthwatering healthy baked donuts recipe. Satisfy your cravings while staying on track with your wellness goals. A treat you’ll love!

If you’re like me and constantly crave for donuts then you probably will understand the excitement of biting into a soft, delicious donut. But, let’s face it, the classic donuts we know and love aren’t exactly the epitome of health. That’s where my hunt to find a way to satisfy my donut cravings without compromising my dedication to a healthier lifestyle began.
For a while, I have been trying to limit my consumption of snacks with refined sugars, so when I started craving donuts a few weeks ago, I was looking around to get inspired on how to make my own healthy baked donuts. I have always been someone who had a ‘sweet tooth’ and I still do occasionally give in to my cravings. But for a while now I have had the concern of how these unhealthy snacks could affect my health and that of my family.
So I tried making these healthy donuts and not only did they come out perfect the first time round, but they tasted so good that the whole family loved them. It has now become our go-to recipe to satisfy our donut cravings.
What’s amazing about this baked donut recipe is its health-conscious ingredients. Say goodbye to refined sugars, because these donuts are free from them (the toppings are optional), making them a healthier option for both you and your loved ones. And the best part? They require no yeast, making the process simpler and quicker.
So let us get into this recipe and I hope you and your family enjoy them as much as we did!

Ingredients To Make This Baked Donuts Recipe
- Oat flour
- Organic coconut sugar: this is unrefined and gives the tastiest caramel-like taste to all my baked goods.
- Organic coconut oil: you can use avocado oil if you prefer. Just make sure when you melt your coconut oil you wait until it is cooled before pouring it into the mixture.
- Maple syrup or vanilla extract: Make sure they are pure and organic.
- Ground Ceylon cinnamon: a natural antioxidant and gives extra flavour! This is optional but I highly recommend it! I love adding cinnamon to all my baked goods.
- Egg
- Milk
- Baking powder
- Himalayan pink salt: or you could use Celtic sea salt. These two options are better than table salt as they are unrefined and of course a better option for your overall health.
- Melted smooth Biscoff spread: this is what I used to top up the baked donuts but this step is optional. Of course, Biscoff spread does contain refined sugar, but only a small amount is added to the donut. It is completely optional as the donuts taste so good without any toppings. You can also add any toppings you desire
- Crushed Biscoff biscuits: you can add sprinkles, crushed nuts, or anything you desire.
Equipment Needed:

How To Make Healthy Baked Donuts
- Preheat oven to 175C/350F and lightly grease the donut tray.
- In a large bowl add the coconut sugar, egg, milk, oil, and maple syrup and whisk it until it’s well combined. Make sure the melted coconut oil has cooled before you pour it into the bowl.
- Then add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and whisk until it’s well combined.
- Place a sealable freezer bag (I get mine from Ikea) in a bag and pour the batter inside and cut the corner slightly. Pipe the batter into the donut tray. If you don’t have a freezer bag or piping bag then you can use a spoon to pour the batter onto the tray – doing it this way can be a little messy but it does get the job done!
- Place in the oven and cook for 15 minutes – after 15 minutes the donuts are cooked but just check with a skewer after 12 minutes. Don’t go over 17 minutes or else it will come out really dry and firm. To get these baked donuts to be light and fluffy you must not overcook it. So make sure you set a timer.
- Once it is cooked, leave the donuts to cool down on a tray.
- Once they are cooled down, dip the bottom of the donut (not the top that has been cracked from the cooking) into the melted Biscoff (or whatever you chose to top your donuts with – remember the topping is optional but it tastes amazing with it).
- And then sprinkle some of the crushed Biscoff biscuits on top for decoration.
- Place in the fridge until the Biscoff spread has hardened – this usually will take about 10 minutes.
- Enjoy!
Are Baked Or Fried Donuts Healthier?
Baked donuts are of course healthier than fried donuts. This is because frying your donuts will require a lot of oil which adds more fat and calories to your donuts. This is why this easy healthy baked donuts recipe is the best healthy alternative to fried donuts/store-bought donuts. So you can enjoy these baked donuts completely guilt-free!
However, this is not to say you should feel guilty when you have a fried donut. It is all about balance (80/20!). But if you are trying to make healthier choices, like eating healthy donuts, then this recipe is for you!
Why You’ll Love This Baked Donuts Recipe
- These will definitely satisfy your donut cravings while still sticking to your wellness goals. Plus as they are made with healthier ingredients, they will not compromise your health like traditional donuts that we all love.
- They are so easy to make, so if you are someone that isn’t a baking expert, these baked donuts will make you feel like one!
- They taste so good that you wouldn’t even think they are healthy!

How To Store
- You can store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days- that is if they last that long ;). I will say, the texture may change a little after a few days in the fridge but they still taste so good either way!
- Freezing is also another option. Just place them in a ziplock freezer bag and they will last for at least 3-6 months. When you are ready to eat them, just take them out to defrost. Just remember if you are going to freeze them, then do not add the toppings. You can add the toppings after they have defrosted.
Healthy Baked Donuts
Equipment
- 1 Donut tray (6 count pan)
- 1 Mixing bowl
- 1 Freezer bag for piping (this is optional, you can use a tablespoon, but the bag makes the process so much easier)
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup oat flour
- 1/2 cup organic coconut sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp pure organic maple syrup (or vanilla extract)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp himalayan pink salt (or sea salt)
- 3 tbsp organic coconut oil (melted and cooled)
For the topping (optional - you can add any toppings you want)
- 1 1/2 tbsp smooth Biscoff spread (melted)
- 2 Biscoff biscuits crushed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175C and lightly grease the donut tray.
- Add the coconut sugar, egg, coconut oil, milk, and maple syrup in a large bowl. Whisk until it is well combined.
- Then whisk in the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the freezer bag inside a cup to keep the bag still, and pour the batter into the bag. Then cut a small slit in the corner. Pipe the batter into the donut tray. May sure you do not over-fill the holes. It needs to be just a little under the flat base.
- Place in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. You can check with a skewer if it has been cooked after 12 minutes (if the skewer comes out dry then it is cooked) but I found that after 15 minutes it was perfect.
- Once cooked, let them cool and deep into your melted Biscoff spread and decorate with the crushed biscuits.
- Place in the fridge for 10-20 minutes and enjoy!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!
