Having a good morning routine will set you up for the day. Here is a productive summer morning routine to make you feel happy and healthy.
Do you struggle to start your day the right way? Does this make you feel like it affects the rest of your day? A morning routine is important, not only to set you up for the day but it helps you stick to small healthy habits every day. These small healthy habits can instantly improve your mood, making you feel happy and healthy.
There isn’t a specific routine for each season. But I found since I started building a morning routine, I would make small adjustments depending on the weather. My winter morning routine was completely different from my spring routine. And as summer is approaching, I wanted to share a productive summer morning routine to help you feel good.
Creating habits and sticking to them can be very difficult. My experience of building routines, whether that be morning or night routine, has helped me significantly in sticking to small healthy habits that have made a huge difference to my health physically and mentally.
A couple of weeks ago, I shared how I lost my baby weight sustainably and one thing I mentioned at the end is building a routine. If you haven’t checked it out, then click HERE to see how you can lose weight sustainably. But this just shows how a routine can help you massively with not just productivity but also your mental and physical health.
This post is all about a productive summer morning routine to make you feel happy and healthy.
Summer Morning Routine
Before I get into the summer morning routine list, I want to give you a piece of very important advice that has helped me significantly. If you want to stay consistent with your routines, fit the changes into your lifestyle. Don’t fit your lifestyle to the changes. What I mean by this, is to take this routine as inspiration, not as a set and fixed thing you must do. For example, if one or two things are impossible for you to do because of how your day normally is, then make an adjustment to the morning routine to fit your lifestyle. This way it won’t be hard to stay consistent and you will enjoy it more.
Productive Summer Morning Routine
1. Hydrate First
After sleeping for 7-8 hours, your body has gone a long time without any water. So drinking water first thing in the morning will help rehydrate your body. It also has many other health benefits, such as improving metabolism, flushing toxins from your body, and also improves your skin and hair health!
You don’t need to drink a whole liter of water! Just two cups of water will do. One thing that helps me drink as much water as possible, and that can help you too, is to have a cute bottle. I know that sounds silly, but it really works! I have linked a few cute bottles below for you.
2. Detox Juice For Your Gut Health
Who doesn’t want glowing skin in the summer? I love going make-up-free in the summer so having healthy glowing skin is essential. And if you are wondering how can you get healthy glowing skin then improving your gut health is the way to go. There are so many gut-cleansing foods you can add to your diet. Check out this blog where I have shared examples of food to eat to get healthy glowing skin.
One way to cleanse your gut in the morning is straight after hydrating, have a glass of a homemade detox green juice. And don’t worry! I have shared the best and most delicious detox green juice recipe to add to your summer morning routine. Click HERE for the recipe.
I have linked a few juicers below that vary in price depending on your budget. No matter what you decide to spend, it is so worth the money! You can make so many different juices and if you have kids, what better thing than to make them a healthy juice instead of store-bought juices that are packed with sugars?
3. 10-Minute Movement
There is something about moving my body in the morning that just gives me a sense of accomplishment. This step really makes me feel like if I can do this, I can do anything. A 10-minute movement can be a workout, a short walk, or a stretch. For me, it’s a stretch, so find out what type of 10-minute movement works best for you in the morning.
And if you are a mum and find it difficult to fit in any type of movement during the day, let alone the morning. Then click HERE where I have shared an easy-to-follow workout schedule for busy mums!
Also, the best way I found that helps me get that stretch in the morning is by writing it down in my planner (scheduling it in) and knowing exactly what video I am going to follow. This saves me time in the morning as I don’t have to search for a video.
4. Perform Self-Care
Even 5 minutes of self-care will make a huge difference to your mood, and believe it or not but your health too. A goal I set for myself this year is prioritizing self-care, especially my skincare. So spend 5 minutes or however long you have to do some sort of self-care. That could be having a cold shower, doing your skincare or even drinking a cup of coffee in peace.
Getting your skincare done in the morning will seriously make you feel so good and ready for the day! I have shared my skincare routine for anyone who wants super hydrated and glowy skin this summer. Click HERE to see the full morning skincare routine.
5. Healthy Breakfast
My favourite part of my morning! One thing I look forward to every morning is breakfast and a cup of coffee. And once I made the switch to having a healthy breakfast every morning (yes there is the occasional croissant or Krave cereal – why not? Balance is key) it has made a huge difference in my body, my mood, and my overall energy.
Click HERE to find a week of healthy breakfast ideas and you can also check out some of my healthy recipes here which also make the perfect healthy breakfast. And keep an eye out, I will be sharing more healthy breakfasts here and over on my Instagram so make sure you are following!
6. Practice Gratitude
There is no better way to boost your mood to make you feel ready for the day than practicing gratitude. It has been a year since I have been filling in my gratitude journal every morning and evening (some days I do fall off track) and it has made a significant difference to my mental health.
Listing out three things you are grateful for and three things that would make the day better will help you focus on the positives of that day. And you will naturally feel a constant reminder to feel grateful throughout the day.
7. Screen-Free For 30-Minutes
Spend your whole morning routine screen-free. I know it can be tempting to check your phone as soon as you wake up. But try going screen-free for 30 minutes at least for a few days and just watch how different you’ll feel!
The aim of a good morning routine is to start the day in a positive way. Imagine waking up and seeing or reading something negative, it will immediately affect your mood. So do yourself a favour, go screen-free for 30 minutes to one hour.
8. Create A Top Priority To-Do List
I truly believe that in order to be productive the next day then you need to create a to-do list the night before. But you can spend the morning re-writing that list from the most important to the least important. This will ensure that even if you couldn’t get everything done then at least all the important tasks are done.
9. Go Out For Fresh Air
As the weather is only going to be getting better, the best thing to do in the morning after ticking everything off your summer morning routine checklist is to go out for fresh air. This can be in the form of going out for a walk or just taking the kids to the park. You will immediately feel a boost of energy and will improve your mood for the rest of the day.
I hope you found this helpful and has inspired you to have a morning routine for a healthier and happier life.
