Easy Bruschetta Recipe
What Is Bruschetta?
Bruschetta is an appetizer that originated in Italy. It usually consists of grilled or toasted bread. After being toasted, the bread is rubbed with fresh garlic to add flavor then drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkled with salt. While some versions of bruschetta feature additional toppings, such as diced tomatoes, basil, or cheese, the basic recipe is quite simple. Bruschetta is often served as a starter at Italian restaurants or at gatherings, but can also make a tasty and light snack or lunch.
What Is The Best Bread To Use For Bruschetta?
When it comes to making bruschetta, choosing the right bread is essential. The bread should have a crispy crust and a soft, chewy interior to hold up to the toppings without becoming soggy. The best bread for bruschetta is a country-style loaf, such as sourdough or ciabatta. It is important to slice it thick (around 1 inch). Most sourdough breads are sold already sliced which is perfect.
