Optional:

How To Make Chicken Broth From Scratch
- Wash the chicken thoroughly with lemon and salt, then rinse well with water.
- Place the chicken into a large pot, cut the onion into four pieces, and add it to the pot. Add the fresh parsley and coriander (no need to chop them), sprinkle in your spices, and pour in enough water to fully cover the chicken.

- Bring the pot to a boil over high medium heat and cook the chicken for about 45-50 minutes. After this time, remove a piece to check if it’s fully cooked—if not, let it simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

- Once the chicken is cooked, remove the pieces from the pot (you can use them for homemade chicken soup). Set a sieve over a large heat-safe bowl and carefully pour the broth through it, allowing the homemade chicken broth to collect in the bowl while the onions and herbs stay in the sieve.
- Your fresh, flavourful homemade chicken broth is ready to use, store, or freeze.
- Enjoy!

Tips To Make The Best Chicken Broth
- This recipe calls for boiling the chicken for around 45 minutes, which is enough to create a flavourful and nutritious homemade chicken broth. However, if you prefer a deeper, richer flavour, you can simmer it for 1–2 hours on low heat. The longer it cooks, the stronger the broth becomes.
- For a clearer broth, skim off any foam that rises to the top during the first few minutes of boiling.
- Don’t worry about chopping the herbs—adding them whole makes it easier to strain later while still giving you the full flavour.
- If you want a darker, more intense broth, you can lightly sauté the onions and chicken pieces before adding water.
- Allow the broth to cool completely before storing it. It keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Benefits Of Homemade Chicken Broth
- Supports gut health: The gelatin and amino acids found in broth can help soothe digestion and support a healthy gut lining.
- Boosts the immune system: Warm, nourishing chicken broth has been shown to help reduce inflammation and support immune function, especially comforting when you’re unwell.
- Hydrating and soothing: Sipping broth provides hydration and electrolytes, making it great when you’re sick or need something gentle on the stomach.
- Versatile for cooking: Having homemade chicken broth on hand elevates soups, stews, sauces, rice dishes, and more by adding natural flavour without preservatives.
