8 Things To Do In Hurghada
1. Giftun Island, Orange Bay
One of my favorite experiences in Hurghada was visiting Giftun Island! The stunning scenery resembles the Maldives, with the clearest and bluest water I’ve ever seen. While many people opt for a full-day boat tour, we chose to book a speedboat (which I highly recommend) to get to Giftun Island. We booked this on the GetYourGuide, which I highly recommend!
Along the way, we stopped for snorkeling near the vibrant coral reefs, and then we arrived at the most beautiful island imaginable!
It’s the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy quality family time in the water, and capture unforgettable photos near the iconic swing and heart on Giftun Island!
2. Hurghada Marina
Marina is a stunning destination that offers a modern vibe compared to the rest of Hurghada. With lots of restaurants and dessert spots, we indulged in delicious waffles and ice cream at Mövenpick, which I highly recommend—it’s conveniently located right at the entrance of the Marina!
Accessing the Marina is completely free, making it a great option if you’re looking for some free things to do in Hurghada (though you might be tempted to try some of the delicious food). While there are plenty of shops for souvenirs, I suggest checking the local markets for better prices.
For the best experience, visit in the late afternoon or evening when the temperatures drop and the breeze picks up. The Marina transforms into a beautiful and tranquil setting, perfect for a leisurely stroll. We loved it so much that we visited twice during our 8-night stay!
3. Al-Mina Mosque
This is another free thing to do in Hurghada, and you can visit after you visit the Marina! Located just a short 3- to 5-minute walk from the Marina, this stunning mosque is a must-see.
We visited during golden hour, and the beauty of the mosque was absolutely breathtaking! As the largest mosque in Hurghada, it is also the only one open to tourists, making it a unique and memorable stop on your journey.
4. Desert Safari (ATV & Buggy Ride)
If you’re traveling with a toddler, I highly recommend this experience! I know some parents may be hesitant, but we had such a fun time that it was absolutely worth it. Our 3-year-old loved the buggy ride!
While many people opt for the full desert safari package—which includes a 6-hour adventure with ATVs, buggy rides, camel rides, visits to the Bedouins, dinner, and a show—we chose to avoid spending too much time in the heat since it was over 38 degrees. If you’re traveling with a child and want to make sure you don’t miss out on the excitement, I suggest booking the family package at your hotel. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the desert without overdoing it in the heat!
If you want to do the full desert safari activity, then below is the most recommended one!
5. Horse And Camel Riding
We also opted for a family package that ensured we didn’t miss out on the camel and horse riding experience. This adventure lasted about 2 hours (including pick-up and drop-off), and it took us to a nearby beach where we had the chance to ride both a camel and a horse along the shore and even in the water! As a horse lover, this was truly a bucket list moment for me.
This experience is perfect for families with little ones, and you can rest easy knowing that it’s quite safe—the rides are leisurely and don’t go fast at all.
Planning to enjoy camel riding on your desert safari? Book your 2-hour horse ride along the beach below so you do not miss out!

6. El-Dahar Bazar
If you want to experience authentic Egyptian culture, El Dahar Bazaar in Old Town is a must-visit! This vibrant market offers the genuine taste of an Egyptian souk, making it the perfect place to find souvenirs and explore unique shops.
I recommend visiting after 4 PM to avoid the intense afternoon heat—we were literally dripping with sweat during our earlier visit! In addition to souvenirs, the bazaar features a wide variety of goods, including spices, leather, traditional Egyptian clothing, jewelry, and shisha pipes.
7. Dolphin Show
This experience wasn’t on our original list of things to do in Hurghada, but we’re so glad we decided to do it!
At the end of the experience, you have the opportunity to take pictures with the dolphins for an additional fee, and I think it’s definitely worth it for the memories you’ll create!
8. Senzo Mall
We didn’t discover this mall, just a 10-minute walk from our hotel, until day 5 of our trip—but I highly recommend adding it to your list for day 1 or 2! It’s perfect for grabbing some delicious snacks at Spinney’s supermarket and stocking up on essentials like soap, shampoo, and beach items.
The mall also has plenty of other shops that we really enjoyed exploring. We ended up visiting twice—once to stock up during our stay and the second time to pick up snacks for our journey home.
