Try the ultimate burger tacos recipe as your new fakeaway meal! Enjoy the best of burgers and tacos in one delicious dish.
When I say these burger tacos will become your go-to fakeaway meal, trust me—they’re a favorite in our household. I make them at least once every two weeks, often more because they taste that good. Inspired by the viral smash burger tacos, I’ve added my own twist to make them even better.
These healthy burger tacos require just a few ingredients and offer various ways to serve them with different toppings. In this blog post, I’ll not only share the burger tacos recipe but also suggest creative ways to enjoy them.
I love exploring new fakeaway recipes, like my homemade beef burgers with oven-baked chips, and chicken pizza. Making fakeaways helps me stick to a healthy diet and avoid ordering out as much as possible. It’s the best way for my family and I to satisfy our pizza and burger cravings, especially on Friday evenings. Home-cooked meals are healthier than takeout and still satisfy those takeout cravings.
These burger tacos have quickly become a staple in our fakeaway meal lineup every Friday night. I hope you enjoy these tacos as much as we do. They’re not only delicious but also help you avoid takeout, saving money and promoting better health.

Ingredients Needed
- Ground Beef: You can substitute with lamb, or even a mix of beef and lamb if you prefer.
- Mini Wraps: Perfect for creating the ideal taco size.
- Spices: Just salt, black pepper, and garlic granules. After experimenting with many spices, I found this combination makes the tastiest beef!
- Fresh Coriander: Adds a burst of fresh flavour to the ground beef.
- Egg Yolk: Helps bind the beef mixture.
- Red Onions: While you can use white onions, red onions truly enhance this recipe.
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Romaine Lettuce
- Cheese: I used grated cheddar, but you can use any cheese you like.
- Mayonnaise
- Sriracha Sauce
- Seasonings for the Sauce: Salt, black pepper, garlic granules, and paprika to enhance the flavour.
How To Make This Burger Tacos Recipe
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic granules, fresh chopped coriander, and an egg yolk. Mix until well combined, then set aside.
- Thinly slice the red onions. Preheat a pan and add a knob of butter. Cook the red onions for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce and continue cooking until they reach your desired preference. I prefer them fully cooked, soft, and slightly caramelized. Set aside.
- Wash the romaine lettuce and thinly slice it.
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sriracha, a pinch of salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic granules until the color changes slightly. Set aside.
- Take your mini wraps and place a slightly larger than golf ball-sized portion of the beef mixture on each one. Flatten it evenly.
- Preheat a pan and add half a teaspoon of butter. Place the beef tacos in the pan, beef side down, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Flip and cook until the wrap becomes golden and crispy. Flip again and cook until the beef reaches your desired level of doneness.
- Add grated cheese on top to melt. Once cooked, remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Top each beef taco with the prepared sauce, cooked onions, and lettuce. Enjoy your delicious homemade burger tacos!
