This post is all about a healthy berry breakfast smoothie recipe!
Berry Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients Needed
- Frozen mixed berries: Feel free to choose your favourite berries; I opted for frozen mixed berries to enjoy a variety of antioxidants.
- Cashew nuts: No need to soak them; they still blend perfectly and add a creamy texture.
- Chia seeds: Boost your smoothie with extra fiber and protein.
- Maple syrup: Add sweetness with pure maple syrup, avoiding refined sugar.
- Cinnamon: Use Ceylon cinnamon for safety and health benefits. Cinnamon we tend to get from the supermarket – usually cassia cinnamon – can be very toxic. HERE you can find the Ceylon cinnamon that is safe and is the exact one I use.
- Jumbo oats: Opt for organic jumbo oats for the healthiest and least processed option.
- Milk: Choose any milk you prefer; I used full-fat milk, but unsweetened almond milk is a great alternative (just watch out for unhealthy additives).
How To Make The Best Mixed Berry Breakfast Smoothie
- Simply add all the ingredients into a powerful blender and blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, feel free to add a splash of more milk. Keep adding milk until your desired consistency.
- Pour your smoothie into a cup, and voila! It’s ready to enjoy. It really is that easy!
- I added some of my homemade nutty granola recipe on top of the smoothie just to add some crunch. You can find the recipe for the granola HERE.
Should You Use Frozen Berries In A Smoothie?
Yes definitely! Frozen berries help to make smoothies thick and creamy without the need for ice. They contribute to a smooth, velvety texture that you would want in a smoothie.
Other Ingredients You Can Add To Your Mixed Berry Smoothie
- Add a handful of spinach, kale, or other leafy greens for an extra nutritional boost.
- Greek yogurt for extra protein.
- Healthy Fats such as avocado, flaxseeds, or nut butter.
- Honey or date syrup instead of maple syrup.
- Hemp seeds.
- Medjool dates for extra natural sweetness/
