A simple holiday morning routine that boosts digestion, reduces stress, and sets you up for a fun and energized day of travel!

There’s nothing quite like waking up in a new destination, ready to explore, relax, and make the most of your holiday. But as exciting as traveling is, it can also throw off your usual habits—leading to poor digestion, disrupted sleep, and even added stress. Over the years, I’ve found that keeping a holiday daily routine similar to my at-home routine has made a huge difference in how I feel while traveling. It helps me stay energized, supports my digestion, prevents illness, and keeps travel anxiety at bay—especially when traveling with a little one, which is fun but can definitely be overwhelming at times.
Having a travel morning routine doesn’t mean spending hours on self-care; it simply means creating a few intentional habits that set the tone for the day. Whether you’re on a summer holiday, a quick weekend trip, or an extended vacation, starting your morning the right way can make a big impact on your overall experience.
In this post, I’ll share a vacation morning routine that’s simple, effective, and doesn’t take long to do. These daily morning routine examples will help you wake up feeling refreshed, support digestion, and ensure you’re ready to make the most of your travels.

Holiday Daily Morning Routine Examples
Wake Up Early
I know what you’re probably thinking— I’m on holiday, why would I want to wake up early? But here’s the thing: waking up just 30 minutes to an hour earlier doesn’t just give you extra time to explore and enjoy your hotel—it also allows you to start your morning the healthy way. Maintaining simple habits from home while on holiday makes it so much easier to get back on track when you return.
I highly recommend waking up a little earlier than your scheduled breakfast time so you can ease into your morning, feel refreshed, and complete this holiday morning routine I’m about to share. Trust me, this small shift can make a big difference in how you feel throughout the day!
Hydrate!
The first thing you should do when you wake up is drink at least 250-500ml of water. Hydration is essential, especially when traveling, as holidays can often lead to digestive issues due to changes in routine, dehydration, and indulging in different foods.
Drinking water first thing in the morning kickstarts your digestive system, helps flush out toxins, and keeps you feeling refreshed and energized for the day ahead. After all, with all the delicious holiday treats, staying hydrated is one of the easiest ways to support your body while still enjoying yourself!
Get A Workout Done

Squeezing in a quick workout while traveling can do wonders for your digestion. I used to struggle with constipation during holidays until I started incorporating short, simple workouts into my mornings. Even just 10 minutes of movement can make a huge difference!
If you’re short on time, try a hotel room workout—I have a travel workout schedule that includes easy-to-follow 10-minute standing workouts (no mat required!). But if you have more time, hitting the hotel gym is a great option too. Trust me, you’ll feel amazing, reduce travel bloating, and start your day feeling energized and ready for the day!

Shower & Skincare To Feel Your Best
After your workout, take a quick shower to wash away sweat and refresh yourself for the day ahead. Not only does this help you feel clean and energized, but pairing it with your morning skincare routine will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Trust me, there’s nothing like that post-shower glow to make you feel like a whole new person!
Practice Gratitude
Whether you write in a journal or take a moment to reflect mentally, practicing gratitude each morning can set the tone for your entire day. You might think, I’m on holiday, of course, I’ll be happy!—but travel doesn’t always go as planned. Unexpected delays, minor inconveniences, or stress can affect your mood.
Starting your day with gratitude helps shift your mindset, keeping you positive no matter what happens. Before I made this a habit, small setbacks would ruin my entire day. Now, I remind myself: “I once dreamed of being in this city, and I’m grateful to be here with my family.” This simple practice changes everything, allowing you to fully enjoy your travels with a positive, appreciative mindset.
Positive Morning Affirmations
Adding positive affirmations to your holiday morning routine is a simple yet powerful way to set the tone for the day. Just like gratitude, affirmations help shift your mindset, boost confidence, and keep you in a positive state no matter what the day brings.
Take a moment to repeat a few uplifting statements, such as:
I am grateful for this new experience.
I embrace adventure and joy today.
I am calm, present, and excited for what’s ahead.
You can say them out loud, or write them down, to make it even easier. This small habit can make a big difference in how you feel throughout your travels!
Healthy High Protein Breakfast

I know—it’s tempting to dive straight into the pastries, pancakes, and chocolate sauce at the hotel buffet (because, let’s be honest, holiday breakfasts are the best!). But starting your day with a nutrient-rich meal is key. If the rest of your day is filled with indulgences, at least you’ve given your body the fuel it needs to keep you energized, support digestion, and reduce cravings.
A balanced breakfast helps stabilize blood sugar levels, which are naturally higher in the morning, preventing energy crashes and constant sugar cravings later in the day. It also supports digestion—especially if you’re prone to constipation while traveling.
Healthy Breakfast Options to Look For:
Omelet with your choice of fillings
Cheese
Whole grain bread
Fiber-rich foods like cucumbers, shredded carrots, tomatoes, or a full salad
Yogurt (plain Greek yogurt if available)
Fresh fruit
Enjoy your holiday treats, but fueling your body right in the morning will make a world of difference in how you feel throughout the day!
