Set a Consistent Sleep Schedule
Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body’s internal clock and improves overall sleep quality. It also ensures you are getting the right amount of sleep every day which is important for your well-being – here are some examples of how getting the right hours of sleep can help with your well-being:
- Emotional Well-being: Lack of sleep can significantly impact your emotional state, leading to irritability, mood swings, and increased stress levels. Sufficient sleep contributes to better emotional regulation and a more positive outlook on life.
- Weight Management: Sleep and metabolism are closely linked. Poor sleep can disrupt hormones that regulate hunger and appetite, leading to increased cravings and weight gain. Sufficient sleep helps maintain a healthy weight.
- Immune System Support: Sleep plays a critical role in strengthening the immune system, helping your body defend against infections and illnesses.
- Regulates Hormones: Sleep is essential for maintaining hormonal balance in the body. Proper sleep helps regulate hormones that impact growth, metabolism, and stress response.
Shower & Skincare
Ending the night with self-care is the first step to help you unwind and feel relaxed. I would have a quick shower and do my skincare after to feel more like myself. This instantly tells my mind that my night routine has started and I immediately start to feel calm and relaxed.

End The Night With A Healthy Dinner
Incorporating a healthy dinner into your night routine offers several benefits for overall well-being and sleep quality. For example, it can promote better sleep. By reducing heavy or unhealthy foods before bedtime it can reduce the risk of discomfort or indigestion that could disrupt sleep.
Also, opting for a balanced and portion-controlled dinner can help maintain a healthy weight and prevent overeating late at night, which can contribute to weight gain. If you struggle to stay consistent with healthy eating then meal planning for the week during the weekend is one of the best ways that has helped me stay consistent.
Relaxing Activities
This can look very different to everyone. My relaxing evening activity is to sit and watch my favourite show whilst having my peppermint tea and healthy snack. Doing something for you after a busy hectic day can help you de-stress and also help you look forward to something at the end of each day.
When I have really hard days with my little one, my night routine is one thing that gets me through the day. Other relaxing activities after a healthy dinner can be stretching your body or reading a book. Find what makes you the most relaxed and do that!

Limit Caffeine
Many of us love enjoying a cup of tea in the evening but consuming tea with caffeine can do more harm than good to your health and interfere with your sleep quality. Try herbal teas like chamomile, peppermint, and ginger tea which all offer several health benefits such as lowering blood pressure, supporting weight management, and boosting the immune system. It could also help improve heart health, digestion, and sleep quality.
Digital Detox
Disconnect from screens (phones, tablets, computers) at least an hour before bedtime. The blue light emitted by screens can disrupt melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. And believe me, this has affected my sleep many times which overall reduces the amount of hours I got to sleep, which does not help when you have a toddler who does not sleep well at night.

Prep For The Next Day
Prepare for the morning ahead by organizing your essentials, laying out your clothes, and writing a to-do list. Having a clear plan can help you wake up with a sense of purpose.
Also, if you struggle with time anxiety as I do, then just knowing exactly what you will be doing the next day by planning and time blocking can really help with time anxiety.
Planning your workouts and laying out your workout clothes for the morning will ensure that you get that workout ticked off your to-do list and make it a consistent habit. Planning and time blocking my days the night before has helped me so much with sticking to small but effective healthy habits.
