This post is all about a Sunday reset routine!
What Is A Sunday Reset?
A Sunday reset is a structured routine designed to help you recharge, organize, and prepare for the upcoming week. It is a time you spend every Sunday to reset your physical, mental, and emotional state, ensuring you start the week on the right foot.
The Sunday reset routine checklist I’m about to share with you will help you reset your physical, mental, and emotional state. This reset routine has helped me do exactly that, and I’m confident it will benefit you too!
The Importance Of A Sunday Reset Routine
A Sunday reset routine can be a game-changer, offering numerous benefits that positively impact your entire week. Since I started incorporating a Sunday reset routine into my life, my anxiety about the upcoming week has significantly decreased, the Monday blues are a thing of the past, and I’ve become more productive than ever before!
Here are some of the benefits you will experience from creating a Sunday reset routine that you follow every Sunday:
Mental Clarity:
A Sunday reset helps you organize your thoughts and priorities, alleviating the mental clutter that can accumulate throughout the week. Taking time on Sunday to reflect, plan, and set your intentions allows you to approach Monday with a sense of calm and focus. This practice helps reduce the Monday blues, often caused by the stress of an impending week and the tasks it brings.
Productivity Boost:
By setting aside time on Sunday to review your calendar, create to-do lists, and plan your meals, you set a proactive tone for the week. This preparation enables you to hit the ground running on Monday with a clear roadmap of what needs to be accomplished. Whether your goals are health-related, personal, or professional, Sundays are the perfect day to create a strategy for achieving your mini-goals that contribute to your larger objectives for the year.
Work-Life Balance:
Dedicating part of your Sunday to activities that recharge you—whether it’s engaging in a hobby, spending time with loved ones, or simply unwinding—ensures that your personal needs are met. This balance allows you to be more present and engaged in both your professional and personal life, fostering a sense of harmony and fulfillment.
Sunday Reset Routine Checklist
Sunday Morning Routine
1. Wake Up Early
Try to wake up at least 30 minutes earlier than usual so you have time for a relaxing morning routine before starting your Sunday reset. To make waking up early easier, go to bed early (by 10 or 10:30 PM). This will help you wake up refreshed and give you enough time to complete your Sunday reset routine.
2. Practice Mindfulness
Instead of checking your phone right away, try practicing mindfulness while still in bed. Spend 3-5 minutes doing deep breathing exercises to calm your mind and body. Then, take another 3-5 minutes to write in your gratitude journal, starting your day with a positive mindset. This can help reduce any overwhelm or Monday blues you might be feeling about the upcoming week
3. Healthy Breakfast
Before having breakfast, hydrate your body since it has gone 7-8 hours without water. Then, make yourself a nutritious breakfast to fuel up and energize. My favorites are a full-fat yogurt/Greek yogurt with homemade nutty granola and berries, or cottage cheese pancakes, which are high in protein and a perfect way to start your Sunday morning.
Starting your day with a high-protein breakfast helps maintain energy levels, giving you the stamina to get through the day.
4. Move Your Body
Start your morning with a light workout or stretching session to energize your body. You can do this before breakfast or 30 minutes after. On Sundays, I prefer to take it easy and do a 10-minute stretch (this is the video I follow), but you can decide if it’s your rest or workout day.
Moving your body has many benefits for your physical and mental well-being, like reducing stress and anxiety you may feel on Sundays, and it boosts your metabolism too!

Sunday Reset Cleaning Checklist
5. Declutter And Clean
Clutter and mess can add to the stress and overwhelm you feel during the week. Starting your week with a clean and decluttered home can improve mental clarity and reduce stress. I prefer to do a deep clean on Fridays, so Sundays are just a quick tidy-up, allowing me to truly rest my body.
6. Laundry And Bed Sheets
Get your laundry done and change your bedsheets to start the week with clean clothes and fresh sheets. Doing laundry on Sunday reduces the amount of homework you have during the week, giving you time for other tasks.
Planning And Organising
7. Review Your Calender And Goals
Review last week’s calendar to note completed and unfinished tasks, adding them to the new week’s calendar for completion. Also, review your weekly goals to see what still needs work. This clears your mind and ensures a focused start to the week, significantly reducing stress—I promise!
Plus by reviewing your goals you are able to see what you need to work on during the new week. This will significantly help you get closer to your big goal as every week you are focused on working towards it.
8. Create Your To-Do List
After reviewing your calendar and setting your new week’s goals, take time to create a to-do list. Starting the week with a clear list ensures you know exactly what to do. Include not only work tasks but also self-care activities like workouts and relaxation time.
I highly recommend time-blocking your tasks. You don’t need to do this for every day of the week on Sunday; just focus on Monday. Then, during the evening, time-block for the rest of the week. If you don’t have a planner, I suggest getting a time-blocking planner like this one HERE or downloading my free weekly productivity planner.
9. Meal Planning and Grocery Shopping
Sundays are ideal for meal planning for the week. I highly recommend not skipping this step if you’re serious about maintaining healthy eating habits. Meal planning also helps create a focused grocery list, preventing waste and ensuring you have what you need. For more meal planning and prepping tips, check out my blog post HERE. Additionally, I have a healthy grocery list available to help you know what to include in your shopping and meals.
Self Care And Relaxation
10. Pamper Yourself
After completing the tasks above, it’s time to relax and pamper yourself. Enjoy some self-care activities you love, like taking a bubble bath, applying a face mask, or reading a book. This is your moment to unwind before the new week starts. Check out my blog post for some at-home pamper activity ideas. Click HERE for the blog post.
11. Reflect And Journal
Start your Sunday morning routine with gratitude journaling, and I highly recommend doing it in the evening too to end your day on a positive note. Reflect on your past week by getting yourself an empty notebook. Write about your achievements, challenges faced, and how you overcame them.
If you prefer a guided weekly reflection, I’ve created a 4-month gratitude journal with weekly reflection prompts to help you prepare for the following week.
Evening Wind Down
12. Prepare For Monday
Preparing for Monday can set you up for a smooth start to the week, avoiding overwhelm. Simply get your outfit (including workout gear) ready, pack your bag, and if you work from home, set up your workspace. This allows you to focus solely on your morning routine the next day, starting your day on a positive note.
13. Unplug And Relax
To fully unwind in the evening, I highly recommend unplugging from technology—laptops, phones, and TVs. While watching TV can help you relax (it’s my favorite too!), turn off all devices at least 30 minutes before bed. I also suggest unplugging from laptops and phones 1-2 hours before bedtime to avoid information overload, which can affect sleep and lead to a tiring start to your week.
14. Early Bedtime
If you want to kickstart your week feeling energized, an early bedtime is key. Aim for 8 hours of sleep to be fully rested and ready to wake up early for your morning routine. Create a calming nighttime routine (link) with plenty of self-care to help you unwind, and be sure to unplug from screens to avoid exposure to blue light, which can affect sleep. Follow these tips for ensuring a good night’s sleep to start the week feeling rested and refreshed.
