The only skincare products for dry skin you need this winter is in this post! If you suffer from dry flaky skin in autumn and winter then this is the post for you.
The days are getting colder and without a doubt, our skin is getting drier. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share some of my best recommendations for dry skin! Tried and tested.
I have dry skin during all seasons but it gets worse during autumn and winter. When I say worse I mean so dry that I get flakes and my skin starts to burn as the dryness makes my skin extra sensitive.
I have used so many skincare products before and just like with most moisturisers I would need to reapply, which I do not like doing. This is because I felt like I would be spreading the dirt my face has gathered during the day all over my face. So I would have to wait for my evening cleanse to moisturise.
Thankfully I found products that work for the dryness. I now do not get dry flaky skin at all during autumn or winter because of how amazing these products are. I am very picky with the products I put on my skin as I have very sensitive skin and can react easily (even with products that suggest are suitable for sensitive skin).
So I wanted to share these products and explain how and why they help.
This post is all about the best skincare products for dry skin that you NEED to add to your autumn/winter skincare routine!
Skincare Products For Dry Skin
I am going to go through a step-by-step routine with all the skin care products that have treated my dry skin.
1. Cleanse
The LumiSpa
The holy grail of skincare. It has been a year since I have been using the LumiSpa and I genuinely can not look back. The LumiSpa is the world’s number 1 home cleansing device and after using it for the first time a year ago I understand why it is!
The LumiSpa comes with a cleanser. There are 5 different cleansers for different skin types – I went for the dry cleanser even though I’ve got sensitive skin and this cleanser feels like I have moisturised my skin.
This device can do so much and it is the only device in history and in the market that can do what it does. I will mention a few things before I talk about how it has helped with my dry skin, especially on colder days.
The LumiSpa has a patented micro pulse oscillation – it rotates in different directions (even though it looks like it doesn’t, but if you record in slow motion you would be able to see) which vibrates at the exact frequency to create skin cell renewal. This is what has helped many people with acne, acne scarring, wrinkles, rosacea and so much more.
The patented micro pulse oscillation also opens and closes the pores. It’s the only device that can remove dirt, grime, toxins and makeup residue from deep inside your pores. This also means it is unclogging the pores and removing dead skin cells which helps to provide you with a smooth texture. Your skin feels super soft and smooth from the first use. And after consistent use, twice a day, you notice a huge difference in the dullness and dryness of your skin.
A 6-year warranty comes with the device – meaning that if anything were to happen to your device the company sends you a new one completely free of charge.

2. Tone
pH Balance Toner

A toner is super important after cleansing. It not only closes your pores but helps to prepare your skin for all the other products that you are about to apply to your skin. So don’t forget to tone your skin!
The pH Balance toner is the most hydrating toner I have ever used. It helps to balance out your pH levels which we tend to lose over time. This article explains the importance of maintaining our skin pH levels!
The pH Balance toner is part of the Nutricential range from NU Skin. The Nutricential range all contain bio-adaptive botanicals which are what have helped with my dry skin! Bio-adaptive botanicals are plants that live in an extreme environment. They help your skin adapt to the environment that it’s in. So, if it is cold then it can attract moisture from the air to maintain hydration in your skin. And if it’s hot, it will block out that excess moisture to prevent your skin from becoming too oily. It’s magic! And the bottle lasts for about 5-6 months! Worth every penny and it is not even expensive – perfect for those with a budget.
Top tip: Do not use a cotton pad to apply your toner. From experience, I feel like when using a cotton pad dries out the skin. Instead, pour some on your hands and then directly onto your skin and pat it all over your face. This way you’ll feel the hydration that it provides.
3. Serum
H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum
A serum is super important to use to brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of spots. Different serums have different benefits – the serums from the Antipodes range help to boost collagen in our skin to firm and plump the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines. And let me tell you this – this plumping serum seriously makes your skin feel so plump!
I have been using it for about 5 months now. I have used other Antipodes serums before but this one is by far the best one for dry skin. In the first week or two after using it, I would wake up with my skin looking so bright, glowy and plumped!
The H20 serum helps to provide extra hydration to the skin – once it dries onto your skin it feels as if you have already moisturised – it is that good! A drop of this goes such a long way.
4. Moisturise

In the mornings it is essential to apply SPF – even during cloudy days. It is so common for people to think because it is now autumn/winter and there isn’t much sun then there is no point applying SPF. However, SPF needs to be applied in the daytime all the time, whether it’s sunny or not as UVA and UVB rays can be very high even during cloudy and cold days.
The Nutricential day lightweight moisturiser contains SPF30 and its thickness of it is perfect. Your skin feels super hydrated and moisturised and gives an insane glow but does not feel sticky at all. Don’t get fooled by the name ‘lightweight’. The texture is lightweight but the intensity of it is perfect to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
They also have another one which is just as moisturising but doesn’t give too much of a glow. I have both and I sometimes alternate depending on if I want a lot of glow or not. A little goes a long way – and when I say a little I mean the size of a pea – that is how good it is!
The thickness of it is not the only thing that is the reason behind keeping your skin moisturised. But the reason why it leaves the skin feeling super hydrated and moisturised throughout the day is because of the bio-adaptive botanicals. It attracts moisture from the air into your skin to maintain the moisture. Goodbye dry skin.
Another amazing thing about this product which a lot of products lack is that it has blue light protection. It is very important to protect your skin against UVA and UVB rays but also blue light. This is light that is emitted from our computers, light, tv, etc which penetrates deeper into our skin and affects our collagen levels faster than UVA and UVB rays – which means ageing quicker.
PM Moisturiser And Oil
I have recently started using CeraVe for my evening skincare routine. CeraVe is well known for treating dry skin (they have a few different options depending on your skin type) and so far it has been working well with my skin. However, during the evenings I like to apply oil after moisturising to give my skin extra hydration.
The Antipodes organic avocado and rosehip is the best oil I have used that treats dry and flaky skin. Another plus side to this is that it helps your skin boost its collagen levels. This oil has helped keep my skin hydrated for as long as possible. As a mum, I sometimes do not have the time to do my morning skincare routine. However, because of how insane this oil is, I wake up in the morning with super soft and hydrated skin.
Treating dry skin in the winter is done by using good products and staying consistent with them. You can only treat dry skin properly if your skin is properly cleansed. Otherwise, you are not removing dead skin cells which is what causes clogged pores and dry patches.
I hope you found this useful! Make sure you are prepared for the colder days that are approaching fast.
Lots of love, Mariam x
