11 Things To Do In Doha
1. Mina District
The Mina District in Doha is one of the most beautiful places to explore. It’s known for its stunning pastel-coloured buildings, making it one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city. You’ll find rows of colourful buildings that look like something out of a postcard-perfect for taking pictures!
If you plan to visit, it’s best to go in the late afternoon or before sunset when the weather is cooler. We went early in the morning, but it got too hot quickly, so we couldn’t enjoy walking around as much as we wanted. In the cooler part of the day, it’s a lovely place for a stroll.
The area also has a port where you can walk around and see boats docked along the waterfront. We missed out on exploring this because of the heat, but it’s a nice spot to visit when the temperature drops. There are also small shops and cafes where you can take a break, grab a cold drink, and enjoy the view.
Overall, Mina District is a great place to take photos, enjoy a walk, and soak up the colorful scenery. Just try to visit when it’s not too hot in the day to fully enjoy it!
2. National Museum Of Qatar
The National Museum of Qatar is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Doha. The building itself is a stunning piece of architecture, designed to look like a desert rose. It’s one of the most impressive and unique structures in the city, making it a great spot for photos.
Inside the museum, you’ll find exhibitions that take you through the history of Qatar, from its ancient past to its rapid development in recent years. The displays are interactive, making them interesting for both adults and kids. You can learn about the country’s culture, traditions, and the story of how Doha transformed into the modern city it is today.
We recommend setting aside at least 2 hours to explore the museum fully. There are also cafes inside where you can take a break and enjoy a drink or snack. It’s a fantastic place to escape the heat and learn more about Qatar’s rich history and culture. The cost to enter this museum is about QAR 50 per person which is nearly £11.
3. Museum Of Islamic Art
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) is another must-see in Doha. The entry fee is 50 QAR, and it’s worth every bit for the experience it offers. The museum is home to an incredible collection of Islamic art, featuring artifacts, textiles, ceramics, and manuscripts from various regions and periods. It’s a great place to learn about Islamic culture and history.
But the museum isn’t just about what’s inside. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece. One of the best photo spots is outside, where you get a stunning view of the Doha skyline. It’s a perfect place to snap a picture with the city’s iconic skyscrapers in the background.
There’s also a lovely park area nearby where you can take a relaxing walk or sit and enjoy the view after exploring the museum. The MIA is a fantastic spot to spend a few hours learning about Islamic art and taking in the beautiful surroundings.
4. Souq Waqif
Souq Waqif was our absolute favourite spot in Doha, and we found ourselves visiting every evening! It’s the best place for shopping in Doha, with a wide range of items from traditional Qatari clothing and beautiful handmade jewelry to spices, perfumes, and unique souvenirs. If you’re looking to pick up gifts or just want to experience local shopping, this is the place to be.
The souq really comes alive at night, making it one of the top things to do in Doha at night. There are countless cafes and restaurants where you can sit, relax, and enjoy a meal or a drink, offering everything from local Qatari dishes to international options. In addition to shopping, you can also enjoy camel and pony rides—a fun activity that’s perfect for keeping the little ones entertained!
We enjoyed strolling through the lively streets, exploring different shops and also ate at a Yemeni restaurant – Bandar Aden Restaurant. We even planned to visit on our last day, but we were so tired that we couldn’t make it. Despite that, visiting Souq Waqif became a highlight of our trip and a must-do experience in Doha.

You’ll find the Katara Mosque, with its beautiful blue tiles and detailed designs, making it a peaceful and stunning place for prayer. There’s also the Golden Mosque, known for its shimmering gold exterior, and the impressive Amphitheater, which combines classic Greek architecture with Islamic design.
8. Place Vendome Mall
Place Vendome Mall is one of Doha’s most luxurious shopping destinations, perfect for those looking to enjoy a day of retail therapy. The mall is filled with high-end brands, designer stores, and beautiful interiors that make it a great place to explore, even if you’re just window shopping.
Beyond the shopping, Place Vendome has plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. We decided to eat at Milk Bun, and it was easily one of the best meals we had in Doha! The burger and chips were incredible! We also tried their famous milk ice cream with a cookie, and it was absolutely delicious.
9. Villagio Mall
Villaggio Mall is one of the most unique shopping spots in Doha—it literally felt like we were outside even though we were indoors! The mall’s design features a painted sky ceiling that gives the illusion of being outdoors, creating a magical atmosphere as you walk around.
Villaggio Mall offers a great mix of high street brands and luxury stores, so there’s plenty of shopping to do for everyone. One of the standout features is the Little Venice area, where you can take a gondola ride through the indoor canal. It’s a fun and charming experience, making it feel like you’re in Venice right in the middle of a shopping mall!
For food lovers, there are plenty of spots to grab a meal or snack, with options ranging from casual cafes to popular restaurants. The mall also has an indoor theme park called Gondolania, complete with rides and games, making it a perfect stop if you’re visiting with kids or just looking for a bit of entertainment.

The Education City Mosque is one of the most stunning and unique mosques I’ve ever seen. The mosque’s modern design is breathtaking, with its sleek architecture and elegant details that make it stand out. It’s an incredible place to visit, especially at sunset when the sky lights up with beautiful colours, offering a serene and picturesque view.
We took the opportunity to pray there, and it was a truly peaceful experience. The mosque’s atmosphere is calm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for reflection and worship. Whether you’re visiting to pray or just to admire the architecture, the Education City Mosque is a must-see for anyone exploring Doha.
11. Boat Ride Around Al Corniche
One of the best things to do in Doha at night is to take a boat ride around Al Corniche. This 30-minute ride offers stunning views of the city skyline, beautifully lit up against the night sky. It’s a great way to see the iconic skyscrapers and experience the city from the water, while feeling the cool breeze as you cruise along.
When planning your ride, make sure to haggle with the boat operators! Everyone seems to pay a different price—some people I’ve heard were able to pay as little as £3 per person. We initially got quoted £6 each but managed to negotiate it down to £5. Looking back, I wish we tried haggling a bit more, but it was still definitely worth the experience.
After your boat ride, you can head straight to Souq Waqif, which is conveniently located right next to the Corniche. It’s the perfect way to continue your night, exploring the lively market, enjoying some delicious food, and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Doha’s most popular shopping spot. This combination makes for a fantastic evening in the city!
