This is the best refined sugar free banana bread recipe I have made! So moist, naturally sweet, and tastes absolutely incredible!
If you’re anything like me, you need a little sweet treat after dinner. It’s become part of my evening self-care routine, and this refined sugar free banana bread recipe is the one I keep coming back to. It’s soft, fluffy, perfectly sweet, and honestly one of my favourite things to bake.
I have a few banana bread recipes on my blog, but this has to be my favourite. I make this healthy refined sugar free banana bread almost every week because it’s so easy, quick to make, and tastes absolutely amazing. If you’re looking for the best refined sugar free banana bread, this recipe is definitely worth trying.
Made with simple, wholesome ingredients, this moist refined sugar free banana bread is naturally sweetened with ripe bananas and maple syrup.
I love adding dark chocolate chunks because I’m a huge chocolate lover, but you can easily leave them out or use refined sugar-free chocolate if you’d like a completely refined sugar free loaf. Either way, you’ll end up with a deliciously moist, no-sugar banana bread that’s perfect for a snack or an after-dinner treat.
One of my favourite things about this healthy banana bread is how easy it is to meal prep. Bake a loaf at the beginning of the week, and you’ll always have a healthier sweet treat ready to enjoy whenever those cravings hit.
I really hope you love this recipe as much as we do! If you make it, I’d be so grateful if you could leave a rating and comment below. And if you share your banana bread on Instagram, don’t forget to tag me @lotsoflovemariam—I’d absolutely love to see your recreations!

Best Refined Sugar Free Banana Bread
Ingredients Needed
- Ripe bananas
- Butter
- Eggs
- Maple syrup
- Plain Greek yogurt (or Greek-style natural yogurt)
- Plain flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Dark chocolate chunks or chocolate chips (optional – leave out if you want this recipe to be completely refined sugar free or choose refined sugar free chocolate chunks/chips)
How To Make This Delicious Refined Sugar Free Banana Bread Recipe
- Add the butter to a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until it turns golden brown, then remove from the heat and leave it to cool down. The brown butter makes this banana bread recipe taste 10x better!
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a loaf tin with baking paper or grease it with butter.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Add the eggs, maple syrup and Greek yogurt, then pour in the cooled brown butter. Mix until well combined.
- Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold everything together until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the dark chocolate chunks or chocolate chips. I usually add around ½ cup, but you can add more or less if you like.
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf tin and gently tap the tin on the worktop a couple of times to even out the batter.
- Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chunks on top if desired.
- Loosely cover the loaf with foil to prevent the top from browning too quickly.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then carefully remove the foil and bake for another 20–30 minutes.
- Check if it’s done by inserting a skewer into the centre. If it comes out with a few moist crumbs, it’s ready. If there’s still wet batter, bake for another 5 minutes and check again. Total baking time is usually 50–55 minutes, depending on your oven.
- Leave the banana bread to cool before slicing.

- Serve on its own or with plain Greek yogurt and fresh strawberries for a delicious dessert or snack.
- Enjoy!
