This monthly reset checklist will help you create the ultimate monthly reset routine that will boost your focus and productivity and help you achieve your goals!

One topic I frequently discuss on my blog and Instagram is the importance of a Sunday reset routine or having a weekly reset checklist to boost productivity, maintain healthy habits, and move closer to your goals. However, something that has truly been life-changing for me—and that I realize I haven’t shared enough—is the power of a monthly reset routine!
At the end of each month and the beginning of the new one, I follow a specific monthly reset checklist that keeps me consistent with my habits and focused on my goals. This practice has been instrumental in helping me achieve so many of my goals.
Just like the start of a new year, each month offers a fresh opportunity to improve and plan effectively. Whether you’re launching a business, striving for better grades, pursuing health and wellness goals, or a parent looking to get super organized—this monthly reset checklist is exactly what you need to succeed.
In this post, I’m sharing a 10-step monthly reset checklist that includes everything from monthly reset journal prompts to understanding the importance of planning self-care activities, all designed to help you stay mentally and physically healthy.
This post is all about a monthly reset checklist.

Monthly Reset Checklist
1. Decide On Your Reset Day And Schedule
The first thing you need to do before you go through this checklist is you need to decide on a day you will complete this monthly reset checklist. This could be at the end of each month or the beginning of the new month – you can even decide to split this checklist like I do. For example, I focus on my goals and plan my tasks for the new month at the end of the previous month but plan and review my finances at the beginning of the new month.
Doing this will help you build consistency by jotting it down in your monthly calendar and the specific day you will complete your monthly reset routine.
2. Reflect On The Past Month

Take a moment to look back on the past month. What went well? What didn’t? Reflect on your accomplishments and challenges, and consider what you can learn from them. This reflection will help guide your planning for the month ahead.
Here are a few monthly reset journal prompts you can think about when reflecting on the past month
- What were my biggest accomplishments this month?
- What challenges did I face, and how did I overcome them?
- What did I learn this month (about myself, others, or the world)?
- Which habits served me well, and which ones do I need to improve or let go of?
- How did I take care of my mental and physical health this month?
- What would I like to improve or change next month?

3. Review Your Goals
Go through the goals you set for the past month. Did you achieve what you aimed for? If not, why? Understanding your progress will help you set more realistic and meaningful goals moving forward. Or even just moving those goals to the following month to ensure you achieve the goal. Sometimes we just need extra time to complete it not necessarily lacking the knowledge or ability to achieve the goal.

4. Review Your Incomplete Tasks

Spend some time checking your to-do lists and review any tasks that were left unfinished. Are they still relevant? If so, add them to the new month’s to-do list. If not, cross them off and let them go. Prioritize what truly matters and adjust your plans accordingly.
5. Plan The New Month
To start the month with clear intentions you need to spend your monthly reset routine setting new goals and tasks. Break down your big goals into actionable steps (these are your monthly mini-goals). This will give you a roadmap for the month, ensuring that you stay focused and productive.
A reminder: you do not need to be planning every single day of the month. All you need to do is set 3 goals for the month to keep it manageable and have a minimum of 5 tasks you need to complete that month that are a must. This will help you when you are planning for a new week every week during your weekly reset routine.
6. Review And Plan Finances
This part of your monthly reset checklist includes updating your budget and planning for any upcoming expenses, as well as reviewing your expenses and income. Make sure to include savings or investments in your financial planning to stay on track with your long-term goals.
I recommend you have a spreadsheet where you keep track of your expenses, income, savings, and investments. Money management is key to helping you succeed!
Also doing this will help you ensure that you are not overspending on unnecessary things that could affect your savings too!
7. Digital Declutter

Take some time to declutter your digital space. Organize your files, clear out your inbox, and delete unnecessary apps or documents. This also includes unsubscribing to email lists and unfollowing people on your social media that no longer serve you. A clean and organized digital environment can significantly improve your focus and productivity.
I also recommend doing a digital detox for at least 1 week during the month to help improve your focus and productivity. Check out my 7-day digital detox challenge to help you get started.
8. Plan For Growth
Growth should be an ongoing process. Identify opportunities for personal and professional development every month. Whether it’s learning a new skill, taking a course, or reading a new book, make growth a priority in your monthly reset routine.
I highly recommend that whatever you choose make sure it aligns with your bigger goals as this will help you achieve them!
9. Schedule Self Care Time
When planning for a new month, it’s easy to get caught up in tasks aimed at achieving our goals and overlook the importance of self-care. But taking care of yourself is just as crucial as ticking off your to-do list.
For instance, I have a dedicated morning routine and evening routine, both of which include self-care activities. However, I also make it a point to plan my weekly and monthly self-care. This might involve family outings, catching up with friends, going on a solo date, or indulging in a full pamper session.
It’s essential to schedule these self-care moments in your monthly calendar. Prioritizing self-care not only helps maintain your well-being but also ensures you’re fully recharged to tackle your goals.
10. Relax And Recharge
After all the planning and organizing, give yourself permission to unwind. Spend some time doing what relaxes and recharges you, whether it’s reading, exercising, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. Starting the new month with a clear mind and renewed energy is key to sustaining your momentum.
