Delicious Dubai Chocolate Dates
Dubai Chocolate Dates Ingredients
- Medjool Dates: You can use any dates, but Medjool dates work best. They’re large enough to hold plenty of pistachio kunefe filling.
- Kunefe Pastry: Look for kunefe in local Turkish shops—they’re much cheaper than buying online. If you can’t find any locally, Amazon has it too.
- Pistachio Creme: Supermarkets don’t usually stock this, so I ordered a pistachio creme from Amazon. It’s a bit pricey, but pistachio products typically are—and it tasted amazing!
- Ghee: Ghee is clarified butter, making it a healthier option, but you can use any grass-fed butter. It’s used to cook the kunefe.
- Chocolate: Use any chocolate you like! I chose 46% for a balanced sweetness without being too dark.
- Coconut Oil: A little coconut oil helps the chocolate melt smoothly for dipping.
- Pistachio Nuts (Optional): Crushed pistachios are great for decorating the top. They’re optional, but they make the dates look extra pretty!
How To Make These Dubai Chocolate Dates
- Cut the kunefe into small pieces (about 1 cup for 12-15 Dubai chocolate dates). Preheat a pan, add some ghee, and let it melt. Toss in the kunefe, stirring frequently while breaking it into smaller pieces as it cooks. Once it’s golden and crisp, remove it from the heat.

- Line a plate or tray with non-stick baking paper. Cut a slit in each Medjool date and remove the pit.
- Transfer the cooked kunefe to a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of pistachio creme, and mix well. If needed, add more pistachio creme for a creamier texture.

- Fill each date generously with the kunefe pistachio mixture, packing it in firmly.

- Melt chocolate with a little coconut oil in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Dip the stuffed side of each date into the melted chocolate and place it on the lined tray with the chocolate side facing up. Crush pistachios into small pieces (a freezer bag and a wooden spoon work great!) and sprinkle them over the melted chocolate for a decorative touch.
- Place the dates in the fridge for 20 minutes or until the chocolate hardens completely.
- Enjoy!

Top Tip
When choosing your Medjool dates, opt for soft or slightly soft ones. Dates can become quite firm after chilling in the fridge, making them tough to bite into. Soft dates, however, stay perfectly tender and are a delight to eat!
How To Store Your Dubai Chocolate Dates
Once the chocolate has fully hardened, transfer the dates to an airtight container or freezer bag and store them in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh for a week or two—though let’s be real, they probably won’t last that long because they’re just too delicious!
