Looking for recipes with cottage cheese? Try this delicious and healthy cottage cheese banana bread recipe that everyone will for sure love!
Cottage cheese recipes have been trending lately, so I’ve been on a mission to try as many as possible and share the best with you. Some of my favorites so far are my Banana Cottage Cheese Pancakes and Cottage Cheese Bagels—both incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious!
Given the success of those recipes, I knew I had to try the viral Cottage Cheese Banana Bread. While there are plenty of recipes out there, I decided to put my own twist on it by adapting my original Banana Bread recipe to create this high-protein and mouthwatering version.
The results were fantastic—so good that even my toddler couldn’t get enough! It’s such a relief knowing she’s enjoying a snack that’s not only delicious but also packed with wholesome ingredients.
The cottage cheese adds a nice boost of protein without actually tasting the cottage cheese, so if you’re worried about that, rest assured—you won’t taste it at all! I’ve had a few DMs asking about this for my previous recipes with cottage cheese, and I’m happy to confirm that the cottage cheese blends in perfectly.
I’m so excited to share this recipe with you, and I hope you love it as much as we do! Please leave a comment and rating below, and don’t forget to tag me @lotsoflovemariam if you share your creation—I’d love to see it!

Gluten Free Cottage Cheese Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients Needed
- Cottage cheese: Make sure you use full-fat cottage cheese for the best results. Plus I will say that anything that is labeled low-fat or fat-free that is supposed to have fat in is usually processed. So avoid getting low-fat ones.
- Eggs
- Bananas: For the tastiest results make sure they are ripe and spotty!
- Oat flour: This makes the recipe gluten-free.
- Coconut sugar
- Salt
- Baking powder
- Cinnamon. I use Ceylon cinnamon as it is healthier and safer than store-bought cinnamon (usually Cassia). Check out this article about the difference between cassia and Ceylon cinnamon.
- Chocolate chips
How To Make Cottage Cheese Banana Bread:
Preheat your oven to 175 C (350F) and line a loaf pan with nonstick baking paper.
Mash your bananas and cottage cheese in a large bowl.
Then add all your ingredients into the bowl except the chocolate chips and mix well. Then add your chocolate chips and fold in.
Pour into your greased or lined with baking sheet loaf pan and spread evenly. And if you wish you can top it up with some more chocolate chips
Pop in the oven for 30-40 minutes. I recommend that you check after 30 minutes by poking in a skewer inside and if it comes out wet then check every 5 minutes and poke a skewer in until it comes out somewhat dry. This ensures you don’t overcook it to avoid it coming out dry.
Enjoy!
How To Store:
Allow the banana bread to cool completely before slicing. Once it has cooled, slice it and store the pieces in an airtight container. Or you can leave it as a whole loaf and store in the container if your container is big enough.
I recommend letting the bread sit at room temperature until it’s fully cooled before refrigerating it. It will stay fresh in the fridge for 4-7 days. For the best texture, microwave a slice for 10-20 seconds before eating to restore its moisture and softness.
If you’d like to store the banana bread for a longer period, freezing is a great option. It will stay fresh for 2-3 months in the freezer.
To do this, wrap the entire loaf or individual slices tightly in plastic wrap. For added protection, especially for extended storage, place the wrapped bread in a resealable freezer bag or an airtight container.
When you’re ready to enjoy it, thaw the bread overnight in the fridge, then microwave it for 10-20 seconds to warm and soften before serving.
