Ingredients Needed For This Banana Bread Granola
- Organic jumbo oats: Make sure the oats you get are organic as they are healthier compared to non-organic oats. This is because organic oats are grown without synthetic pesticides, which prevents exposure to harmful chemical residues.
- Raw pecan and walnuts: Do not get roasted as they will be roasted in the oven. and make sure they are not salted too.
- Organic coconut Sugar: This is unrefined which is healthier than normal sugar plus it gives this insane caramel-like taste.
- Sea Salt
- Ground Cinnamon: Contains antioxidant properties and adds extra natural sweetness.
- Milled Flaxseed: Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and protein.
- Organic Coconut oil: You can replace this with any neutral-tasting oil such as olive oil or avocado oil. Just make sure not to use any seed oils (e.g. sunflower or vegetable oils) because they are really unhealthy!
- Pure maple syrup: Make sure it is pure maple syrup as others tend to contain refined sugars. You can swap this with agave nectar.
- Ripe banana

How To Make This Banana Bread Granola Recipe
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (fan).
- Begin by combining all the ingredients in a large bowl, excluding the banana, coconut oil, and maple syrup. Proceed to mash the ripe banana on a plate.
- In a saucepan over low to medium heat, melt the coconut oil. Once melted, add the maple syrup, stirring until it begins to bubble slightly. Then add the mashed banana into the mix, stirring thoroughly.
- Pour the banana-infused mixture over the oats and mix until fully combined. You’ll know it’s well mixed when the texture becomes moist, resembling the image below.
- Line a large, flat tray with non-stick baking paper, then transfer the oat mixture onto it. Use a flat spatula to flatten and evenly spread the granola.
- Pop it into the oven. Once baked, let the granola cool completely (around 15-20 minutes) to achieve that perfect crunchy texture. It will feel a little soft at first when it first comes out of the oven. But do not worry, once it has cooled down it will become crunchy.
- After cooling, break it into small clusters and store them in an airtight container or bag.
- Enjoy your homemade banana bread granola!

What To Serve With Your Granola
I personally love serving my granola with unsweetened almond milk, but there are a few ways you can serve it:
- Milk: Use your favourite type.
- Chia Pudding: Try the best strawberry chia pudding recipe.
- Greek Yogurt: Create a delicious Greek yogurt bowl with berries and nut butter.
- Superfood Bowl: Enjoy a nutritious mix of berries, super seeds (hemp, chia, pumpkin seeds), cocoa nibs, and almond milk! Watch the recipe video HERE.
How To Store
Storing homemade granola is easy and essential for maintaining its freshness. It will stay fresh for up to 1 month if it is stored properly. Here’s how to do it:
- Cool Completely: Before storing, ensure your homemade banana bread granola has cooled down completely. This prevents moisture buildup inside the container.
- Choose an Airtight Container: Opt for an airtight container with a secure seal. Mason jars, plastic or glass containers (like this one HERE that I have) with tight-fitting lids, or resealable bags work well. The key is to keep air out. I have linked a few options below for you!
- Keep it Dry: Moisture is the enemy of granola. Make sure the container is bone dry before adding your granola, and ensure the granola itself is also free from any moisture or condensation.
